Why this place
The homestead comes first.
Terra Sem Pressa is our attempt to build a simpler life in rural Portugal.
We want to grow food, care for the land and create room for a few people at a time to share in ordinary homestead life. The garden, kitchen, workshop and changing seasons are the point — accommodation will always grow around them, never replace them.
Food will be grown first for the household, with any useful surplus shared or sold directly and locally. Visitors may eventually stay here, but the project is still being created. We are documenting the work openly: progress, costs, uncertainty and all.

A kitchen, a table and a piece of land are better when they are shared. Cook together, help in the garden, talk — or quietly do your own thing.
Slow down
No crowds. No packed programme. No rush. The eventual limit of four places and eight guests is a promise to keep the scale human.
A deliberate limit
We are not trying to build the biggest place we can.We are trying to build enough.
The social heart
Cozinha Comum
The Common Kitchen. A generous shared kitchen and long table, planned as the place where the life of the homestead naturally comes together.
Large folding doors will open straight onto a covered outdoor living space. In summer, daily life moves through those doors. In winter, they close and the kitchen becomes a warm room for cooking, reading and unhurried conversation.
Nothing will be compulsory. The kitchen simply makes sharing easy when it feels right.

Small on purpose
Four places. Eight guests. No crowds.
The future homestead lodges will each be made for no more than two people. They will offer privacy and year-round comfort, while cooking and eating remain centred around the Cozinha Comum.
Private when you want it. Shared when you feel like it.

Whatever the season gives us.
The aim is not industrial production. We plan to grow primarily for the homestead, learn from the land and share or sell what the season gives us in abundance.
Vegetables, fruit and herbs may one day appear at a small farm stand, in a harvest box or on the kitchen table. No fixed promises — just useful food, grown with respect for the land.
